1. We had powerful thunderstorms last night.
2. Said thunderstorms knocked our power out at 4:30am.
3. We slept blissfully through the power outage.
4. We woke up with Henry standing over our bed saying, "It's 6:45"
5. My alarm was set for 6:00am - thank goodness for Henry's cell phone alarm.
6. Being the first day of school, it was not good to wake up late.
7. I drove Henry to his bus stop (first time ever riding a bus) to go to his first day of Middle School.
8. I got Hayden to his new school fairly early, but could not find a parking spot. We had to walk from three blocks away.
9. We could not get to his locker easily. We were being blocked by all the kids "decorating" their lockers. I have never seen such an assortment of wall paper, glitter, fluffy stuff and chandeliers -yes, chandeliers. No wonder everyone came early. At our old school, locker decorating was not allowed.
10. I did the "mom" thing and called Henry to make sure he got to school ok. He was fine, but he forgot to memorize his bus number.
11. I am currently waiting for Durham Bus Services to call me back with Henry's bus number or I may be making a trek across town around 3:30 to pick him up.
12. My house is a disaster.
13. I am ignoring it.
14. I have a pit in my stomach.
15. First day of school has never been my best.
16. I am getting too old for this sort of thing.

Just think of all the things you can do now that school has stated!
