One of the reasons I started this blog was, for the last year or so, I admired the Blogger's Quilt Festival and wanted to someday be a part of it. I needed a blog to do that. It's time! I chose this quilt because it is the first quilt I made after I got married. I really wasn't a quilter before I got married, but had attempted a few. My husband encouraged me to take a class, because he knew I liked to sew and he really admired my mother's quilting. I waited until after the second baby was about a year old and then signed-up for the class. The third to last week of the eight week class, my dad passed away. We went to the funeral in Idaho then returned to Texas. I finished the class - one week behind everyone else and completed everything except the borders. I got three of them on, but couldn't finish the last one. After a year and a half my mom tried to push me into it - I just couldn't. When I wasn't looking, she sewed the top and final border on for me. Funny how it was the closure I needed. It's just a sampler - it's not perfect, not really spectacular, but it is a memory of my dad's life and my mother's kindness. This will probably always be my favorite quilt.
There is a button on my sidebar for the Festival. Go take a look. I promise you will be impressed. Let me know if you enter one of yours!
