Bring It Down A Notch

The last few years as the boys have become "adult-like".  Meaning, they think they are mature adults, but I know better.  They are still children thinking they deserve every benefit of the adult world.  Uh. huh.

This has affected our holidays.  I'm bringing this up because Valentine's Day is just around the corner.  My boys have just stopped caring.  I mean, they are all into Christmas because, well, the gifts.  Except this year, Henry said he was "over it" because he got new clothes - mostly.  What he really wanted was a new iphone6 and the latest and greatest Xbox. No thank you.

He got clothes because he grew 4" since June and nothing fit him.  Socks, underwear, you name it.  He got a new Sunday suit because he was Noah passing the sacrament.

Halloween was a no-show here because the boys went hunting instead.  Now here comes Valentines Day.  I always buy them a box of candy and a card.  They really like the candy, but I don't know what's going to happen this year.  Martin always brings me candy and flowers and a nice gift.  He usually takes the boys to the grocery store with him while he does this and they actually sign the card.

Needless to say we started out loving every holiday every invented, but now we are pretty average with our holidays.  I think it may be the lack of girls living here.  Sometimes Hayden shows promise - he's somewhat sentimental, but there is never any guarantee.

Anyhoo, I found this great article about the holidays and our kids.  Please read it.  It's a keeper.
